WHY ARE THE TEETH?
There are many reasons for tooth ache. The exposure of dentin tissue containing nerve endings and small channels filled with fluid under the tooth enamel causes tooth sensitivity. The consumption of sweet, sour, spicy foods, cold and hot drinks affects the fluid in the dentin canals and increases the tingling in the teeth.
Problems that can lead to sensitive teeth;
Brushing teeth with hard, forceful pressure and with a hard-bristled toothbrush can erode the tooth enamel, exposing the dentin tissue, causing sensitivity. Incorrect brushing may also cause gingival recession, causing the flesh tissue to expose and sensitivity. In such a case; The correct use of brushes should be recommended and fluorine application should be applied after the correct brushing is taught, or fillers should be used according to the amount of tissue loss.
In cases where gingivitis is present; Changes in color (red), consistency (soft), contours, surface properties are observed in the gums, bleeding occurs. If gingivitis is not treated, the supporting tissues (bone) of the tooth begin to be affected. Sensitivity occurs with the destruction of the fibers and bone around the tooth. In such a case; should be cleaned and then the root surface straightening process, which we call curettage, should be done.
With the curettage procedure, the healing and maturation of the connective tissue is facilitated, and the tight adaptation of the connective tissue to the root surface is provided. In the advanced stages of gum disease, if there is an advanced bone loss, surgical treatment may be required.
Traumatic situations such as clenching and grinding; The enamel tissue of the teeth may wear out and cause sensitivity. In such cases, a night record is made. Night plaques prevent tooth erosion.
Deep dentin caries in the tooth can cause tooth sensitivity. In such a case, tooth decay should be cleaned and a filling should be made. Fluoride application should be made to prevent tooth decay, and the patient should be recommended fluoride toothpastes and mouthwashes. If the bruise has progressed, it should be treated.
